.PEC: Brother PEC
The stitch part of a PES file saved on its own. It was used by older Brother machines and embroidery cards.
- Extension
- .pec
- File type
- Stitch (machine) file
- Used by
- Brother, Baby Lock (older card-based machines)
- Market
- home
- Thread colors
- Fixed brand palette
- Status
- legacy
How it works
PEC contains stitch commands, color changes that reference Brother's fixed 64-color thread palette, and small screen thumbnails. It has no object or outline data.
Today PEC is mostly met inside PES files. Standalone PEC files are useful for older card readers and some legacy Brother software.
What the file stores
- Stitches, jumps and trims
- Palette color indexes
- Thumbnails
Watch out for
- Only Brother's fixed palette can be represented, so custom colors are approximated.
Machines that read .PEC
- Brother (also supported on many models)
Support differs between models and generations, so always confirm in your machine's manual.
